The Reading Hospital and Medical Center is a not-for-profit healthcare center providing comprehensive acute care, post-acute rehabilitation, behavioral, and occupational health services to the people of Berks and adjoining counties. Established as The Reading Dispensary in 1867, the Hospital has since expanded into a leader in tertiary care for this region of Pennsylvania.
Located in scenic Berks County, the main West Reading campus consists of a 22-building complex located on a 36-acre suburban campus. Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) for 665 beds, a second license from the PA DOH’s Division of Long Term Care allows for 50 skilled nursing beds at The Reading Hospital for Post-Acute Rehabilitation. The Spring Township facility has a total of 112 beds.
The Hospital’s modern facilities are located throughout the county, and include many easy-to-reach laboratory and imaging locations.
The Reading Hospital for Post-Acute Rehabilitation, our new 62-bed facility in Wyomissing, provides a continuum of care for those who need to transition from the Hospital to home.
The Highlands at Wyomissing is our not-for-profit continuing care retirement community. The Highlands offers 248 residential apartments, 40 villas and homes, on-site long-term health care with 66 personal care apartments, and an 80-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center.
The Reading Health Dispensary and The Reading Health Dispensary at Second Street – our outpatient primary healthcare satellites – Occupational Health Services (West Reading and Muhlenberg Township facilities), Exeter Medical Center, and The Reading Hospital at Spring Ridge, provide a full range of care to community members.
Our Medical Staff exceeds 970 physicians and allied health professionals in 53 distinctive specialty fields.
