A joint venture between The Reading Hospital Regional Cancer Center and the Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Family Risk Assessment Program (FRAP) is geared toward evaluating a woman’s risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer as a result of heredity or family history.
Women interested in participating in the Family Risk Assessment Program
attend a two-hour education session on cancer and risk assessment.
Following the session, those who wish to join the program provide their
family histories for a cancer research registry, which is updated
yearly.
Participants receive personalized assessments and also may have access
to new research options and testing methods. To participate in the
Family Risk Assessment Program, you must be at least 20 years of age,
have at least one immediate family member (mother, daughter, or sister),
or two second degree relatives (aunts and/or grandmother) on the same
side of the family, with breast or ovarian cancer, or have a diagnosis
of ovarian cancer with or without a family history.
