Additional Programs

• Heart Failure Unit offers the latest methods and therapies for treating the ever-growing problem of heart failure through written materials, teaching, instructional videos. Nutritionists, Physical and Occupational Therapists, and Care managers provide patients and their families with consultation services.
• Stroke Unit uses an interdisciplinary approach to caring for patients after they have had a stroke. Our team of nurses, doctors, therapists, case managers, and chaplains work together to provide the best treatment possible. We follow guidelines for care set by the American Stroke Association. 
• Women's Heart Health Initiative's mission is to provide women with relevant and reliable information to make necessary behavioral changes and informed health care decisions regarding their heart.
• Pain Management Protocols provide a comprehensive range of treatments for non-malignant chronic pain. In the Center for Pain Management, anesthesiologists and specially trained nurses offer several different types of procedures with a referral from a primary care physician.
• PAWS for Wellness is animal-assisted therapy is provided to patients, offered through Behavioral Health Services at The Reading Hospital. For more information, call 610-988-8070.
• Hospice Service is designed to provide competent, compassionate care to patients requiring acute general hospital inpatient care for pain and symptom management and who are not able to receive care at home or in another non-acute setting. The focus of treatment is on patient and family comfort and palliative care.
• Speakers Bureau provides free service to people and organizations within our community while introducing them to various healthcare professionals at The Reading Hospital. For more information, please call 610-988-HELP.
