Obstetrics/Gynecology
For more than six decades, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program has been one of the most respected and competitive programs in the region. Only four residents are admitted to the four-year program which promotes close teaching relationships and increased opportunities to learn. More than 3,900 babies are born each year at The Reading Hospital, providing a comprehensive experience in obstetrical procedures. An active Maternal-Fetal Medicine service fosters a structured teaching program for high-risk OB. An experienced surgical staff and a high surgical volume permits superb hands-on training in endoscopic, oncologic, and urogynecologic procedures, as well as general gynecology. Our residents have consistently distinguished themselves in all areas of academic achievement and by certification by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Superbly situated geographically, the Reading area boasts of diverse recreational and family-centered activities, as well as easy access to major metropolitan areas such as New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore.
