Emergency Care

Many injuries involve fractures or broken bones. The Emergency Department at The Reading Hospital is equipped to handle any type of orthopaedic emergency. Orthopaedic surgeons are available 24-hours a day to evaluate and treat anything from a broken finger to a broken back.

The Emergency Department at The Reading Hospital saw more than 90,000 patients in 2005. Physicians who specialize in emergency medicine quickly diagnose injuries and determine if orthopaedic care is required.

The Reading Hospital has more than 24 orthopaedic surgeons on staff who specialize in areas such as orthopaedic trauma, foot and ankle reconstruction, spinal surgery, sports medicine, hand surgery, and joint arthroplasty. No matter the injury, our staff will be able to provide the care you need during a very difficult time.

Patients who have had orthopaedic trauma are treated in our Orthopaedics Center. The nurses in this center have completed the Trauma Nurse Course, are ATLS certified, meet trauma-specific competencies, and have the option to become Certified Orthopaedic Nurses.
