The Reading Hospital’s Chest Pain Center was accredited in 2009 by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. Our Chest Pain Center meets or exceeds the national guidelines for treating people experiencing chest pain.

Using cardiac catheterization (balloon angioplasty), The Reading Hospital provides the best treatment available to restore blood flow to the heart. This minimizes heart damage after a heart attack. Fewer than 25% of hospitals nationwide provide this level of care!

The Reading Hospital Chest Pain Center exceeds national standards for treatment of heart attacks. Time is critical when it comes to chest pain. Our streamlined processes and teamwork allow us to deliver the very best heart care to our community.

The treatment process for chest pain begins the moment a patient calls 911. Following a quick assessment in the Emergency Department, patients are transported to The Regional Heart Center’s Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory for treatment.

Our systematic approach has resulted in superior "time to treatment" during the critical early stages of a heart attack, when therapy is most effective.
