The Regional Cancer Center was granted a three-year approval with Commendation by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. A facility receives a three-year approval following an on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor during which the facility demonstrates a Commendation level of compliance across several standards. The standards represent the full scope of the cancer program and include cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach, and quality improvement. | |

The Reading Hospital has achieved accreditation by the American Association of Blood Banks for a period of two years following an intensive on-site assessment of the Hospital's blood bank. By granting accreditation, it has been determined that the Hospital meets, or exceeds the level of medical, technical, and administrative performance standards set by the AABB. |

The Rehabilitation Center at The Reading Hospital has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for a period of three years. This accreditation is for both the Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program and the Stroke Specialty Program. The Center also received 18 commendations for special areas of programming.

The Pennsylvania Medical Society approved full accreditation of the Continuing Medical Education Program at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, without joint sponsorship privileges, for a period of six years ending on February 28, 2011. Surveyors reported that the CME Program at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center is an “exemplary program and would be a role model for other programs.” The Commission on Continuing Medical Education commended the program on achieving this excellent rating. A six-year accreditation represents the highest level of achievement in the CME industry. |
