Clinical Pastoral Education Program
The Clinical Pastoral Education Program at The Reading Hospital offers
program formats tailored to the needs of theological-degree candidates,
clergy, and lay ministers seeking continuing education or wishing to
train for careers in chaplaincy. Our curriculum and supervised clinical
pastoral experiences focus on the development and refinement of pastoral
care and counseling skills that are theoretically informed and
pastorally effective.
Nursing Program
If you’re looking for an exceptional educational program to prepare you
for a career as a Registered Nurse, The Reading Hospital School of
Health Sciences Nursing Program is for you. Widely recognized for
excellence in both the classroom and clinical settings, our program has
been preparing women and men since 1889 to serve in a variety of nursing
fields both here and around the world.
Paramedic Education Program
The Paramedic Education Program was founded in 1987 to prepare
individuals for careers as prehospital services professionals. Emergency
Medical Technicians with one or more years of field experience can
become a Paramedic in just 12 months.
Radiologic Technology Program
We offer students the exceptional classroom and clinical experiences in
24 months preparation for an exciting career in imaging. For more than
50 years, the Radiologic Technology Program has educated women and men
who have continued to serve in a wide variety of radiologic imaging,
both here at The Reading Hospital and in locations across the nation.
Surgical Technology Program
For more than 35 years, the Surgical Technology Program has prepared
qualified professionals for a technical role on the surgical team.
Combining instructional lectures and clinical experience, the 18-month
program prepares students for the national certification examination and
to assume entry-level positions as surgical technologists.
The School of Health Sciences has an affiliation with Alvernia University. Physical sciences, biological sciences, behavioral sciences, and English composition are taught at the School of Health Sciences by University faculty. The affiliation enables the Nursing Program graduates to qualify for the RN to BSN Completion Program. Students enrolled in the Nursing Program and Surgical Technology programs will earn college credit for the general education courses.
